Update: The crash has been cleared and the freeway is back open, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- Two people were injured and all lanes of westbound I-94 were closed Wednesday morning after a semitrailer spilled steel coils on the roadway, according to police.
Westbound I-94 near Wagner Road in Ann Arbor was closed shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, after a semitrailer rolled over, according to officials.
Preliminary investigation showed a car cut off a semitrailer hauling steel coils, police said. The cab of the semitruck and the trailer separated before the trailer hit an overpass and the cab overturned. Two steel coils rolled onto the freeway, police said.
The drivers were taken to the University of Michigan Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office put out an alert about the crash around 9 a.m. telling motorists to avoid the area.
